Abstract
In recent years to occlude the dentinal tubule orifices has become the most discussed treatment of the dentine
hypersensitivity [1]. For a while, there is a groving interest in developing materials with a bioactive potential that
could cover dentinal tubules and reduce the fluid flow within the tubules [2]. Hydroxyapatite (HAp) is one of the
main structures of dental hard tissues, exhibits excellent bioactive properties as inducing the natural response of
cells and the mineralization process [3]. Although HAp antibacterial resistance is very limited [4-5]. The synthesis
of Ag+ doped hydroxyapatite with antibacterial properties is great interest in new biological studies [6]. In this
study, both pure HAp and Ag+ doped HAp were produced by precipitation method [6]. It is aimed to increase the
antimicrobial effects with Ag+ doped production. At the end of the production FTIR, SEM and degradation studies
were made to evaluate the physical characterization. In addition, cytotoxicity studies were conducted to evaluate
toxicological properties. The FTIR and SEM studies were also conducted before and after the degradation to assess
the physical activity of the treated surface. All samples evaluated in our study were found to be an effective
occluding on dentin tubule. According to degredation results, the occluding material was found to have a strong
chemical bond structure. Both pure HAp and Ag+ doped HAp materials, has a positive contribution on viability,
does not cause toxicity. Furthermore Ag+ doped hydroxyapatite treatment is a positive effect on antibacterial
properties. Antibacterial activity of the materials related to Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Candida
albicans was taken high resistant observed in Ag+ doped hydroxyapatite sample comperad pure hydroxyapatite.

Abstract
Dentine hypersensitivity is a clinical condition characterized by sudden and sharp pain arising from stimulation of
exposed dentine with cold, heat and mechanical pressure [1]. Hydroxyapatite (HAp) is one of the materials studied
and used as active ingredients in dental care products and gets scientific popularity day by day [2-4]. Although
pure-HAp has highly biocompability, bioactivity and osteo-conductive properties, its antibacterial resistance is
not enough [5-6]. Co-doping of Ag+ in HAp improves its both antibacterial performance [7] and cell viability [8-
9]. And co-doping of Ag+ in HAp has a positive electrostatic effect [8] to plug the dentine tubules. For this purpose,
pure and Ag+ ions doped nano-hydroxyapatites, synthesized by the precipitation method [9], which have been used
for plugging in dentin tubules also investigated by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), ATR-Fourier Transform
Infrared Spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR) for all the degratation studies. Furthermore we tried to observe the effect of
degredation on the treated tooth with FTIR. We have a effective occlusion for all types of nHAp and also as can
be seen from the FTIR peaks, our samples are at least 90% resistant to degradation.
